Approximately two years ago cupid hit me twice with one arrow. Not only did I fall in love with Rachel Griffith’s Smitten quilt (and buy the pattern ), but Rachel showcased Bunny Hill Designs’ Lily and Will fabric so beautifully that I couldn’t wait to get my hands on some. Although I couldn’t find the fabric at my LQS, it pretty much came to me at our guild’s quilt show. They didn’t bring any yellow, unfortunately, but lots of pink, blue, green and brown.
After basking in the joy of possessing these fabrics for over a year, the hunt was on for a quilt pattern. Then I remembered that Konda Luckau at Moose on the Porch Quilts had made a lovely quilt for a bridal shower. It’s a pattern from Crazy Old Ladies, alternately called Diamond in the Rough and Breaking Dawn .
The finished size is about 38″x54”. I didn’t think to measure it before giving it to some friends who just had their sixth child. With the eight brown diamonds lined up on the quilt, I named it Family of 8. It’s been 10 months since I last made a functional quilt; longer than it took the recipient to get here.
